5 Characters That Need to be in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
There’s been 3 games so far in the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, each filled with incredible characters. But for the next installment, who’ll make the cut? Which characters will return and which will debut? Based on the previous game, I have a bit of an idea, but for the most part, it’s all up in the air. The only thing we can do is be patient… and also speculate. Here are 5 characters that I would like to see in the next Spider-Man game.
P.S. If you’re reading this article, I’m going to assume you have already played Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. So, there will be spoilers all over the place.
5 Characters That Need to be in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
- Morbius
- Carnage
- Green Goblin
- X-Men (Any)
- Human Torch
1. Morbius

A ton of legendary supervillains have already appeared in the series, but one notable absence is the vampire Morbius. I say supervillain, but the truth is that Morbius is always teetering on the line between antagonist and anti-hero. It would be interesting to see which way the Insomniac Games team goes with the character. Maybe he teams up with the Spider-Men or causes chaos throughout New York City.
It could be possible that Insomniac Games is hesitant to add Morbius to the game after the Sony movie crashed and burned – both at the box office and with the critics. I hope that’s not the case because I think the Morbius character himself is great, and him being a part of a blockbuster game like Spider-Man 3 could be just the thing he needs to fix his reputation in the eyes of the public.
2. Carnage

If you played The Flame side mission in Spider-Man 2, then you know this character has already been introduced. At least, to some degree. We saw the introduction of Cletus Kassidy, and we saw him take a piece of an alien symbiote.
So, they’ve laid out all the groundwork for the character, but it’s yet to be seen whether they’ll bring him back for Spider-Man 3 or if he’ll be in the standalone Venom game. It’s also possible that they put the character on hold and bring him back in a far future installment.
I hope that’s not the case and we see him soonish, because it would be great to see Miles and Peter take on this monstrous villain.
3. Green Goblin
I have to give it up to Insomniac Games for having Norman Osborn in 2 Spider-Man games and not turning him into the Green Goblin just yet. They’ve been patient, and they’ve made sure to flesh out his character to be a 3-dimensional, complex man. He’s a shrewd businessman who isn’t afraid to fight dirty, while also being a loving father and a widower who still grieves his dead wife.
But for Spider-Man 3, I hope they pull the trigger. Green Goblin is probably the most iconic Spidey villain (tied with Doc Ock, in my opinion), and it would be a fitting end to the trilogy to have Norman Osborn finally don the mask and glider. Green Goblin is a character that needs to be in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.
4. X-Men (Any)
Insomniac Games has a standalone Wolverine game that comes out in a couple of months (at the time of this writing). So we know that Wolverine, and by association, the X-Men, exist in this universe. If that’s the case, I would love to see the X-Men interact with the Spider-Men. It doesn’t even have to be a superhero team-up; it could just be them running into each other at some point or another.
I would even take something as small as the Spider-Man/Doctor Strange/Wong interaction that happened in Spider-Man 2. Just to see Pete and Miles interact with somebody like Iceman, Jean Grey, or Nightcrawler would be insane. I won’t get my hopes too up, but now that Wolverine and other mutants are confirmed to be in the same universe, a man can dream.
5. Human Torch
Truthfully, I would be happy to see any of the Fantastic Four make an appearance in the next Spider-Man game. It would be even better if we got the whole group. But if I had to pick just one member to make the cut, it would definitely be the Human Torch, Johnny Storm. His interactions with Peter Parker in the comics are so fun and entertaining that I need to see them play out in the video game. Then, adding Miles to the mix would make it even better.
The Baxter building is already in Spider-Man 2, and I know it’s a huge leap to think that just because that building is in a huge open-world game, that the Fantastic Four themselves now have to make an appearance, but it would sort of make sense. The Fantastic Four made an appearance in Spider-Man #1, way back in 1962. It would be a nice full-circle moment to then have them be in Spider-Man 3. Far-fetched? Yes, absolutely. However, if I’m talking about characters that I want to see in the next game, Johnny Storm is at the top of that list.
