5 Characters Who Should Be in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
It’s been a while since we’ve had a Marvel fighting game, so hype for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls couldn’t be higher. One of the things people are looking forward to the most is the roster. We already know a bit about it, like the base roster will feature 20 characters that include:
- Captain America
- Iron Man
- Spider-Man
- Wolverine
- Hulk
- Storm
- and many more.
However, there are still 6 remaining spots on the main roster that we don’t know about, plus all the eventual DLC characters that will be added to the game. All this to say – there is plenty of room to add everyone’s favorites. But today, I’m here to talk about mine. Here are my picks for 5 characters who should be added to Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
P.S. I will try to avoid talking about obvious superheroes who are bound to make it into the game, heroes like Thor, Doctor Strange, etc.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Roster – 5 Characters Who Should Be in the Game
- Wasp
- Blade
- Shang-Chi
- Reptil
- Silver Surfer
1. The Wasp

There’s a lot of larger-than-life characters that are in the game or will be added to it later on. But sometimes, it’s best to go small. A fighting game character who can shrink down and still attack their foes sounds like an amazing idea – not only from a gameplay perspective but from a visual one as well.
Injustice 2 already proved that this can work when they added The Atom to the roster as a DLC character. He was fun to play as, and also just a joy to watch.
I know the resident shrinking person in the Marvel Universe is Ant-Man, but I think that The Wasp has enough personality and charisma to pull it off.
2. Blade

Some heroes fight street crime, some fight cosmic threats, and some fight earth-shattering threats. Then there are those who fight in the shadows, protecting humanity from supernatural threats that they will never know about. Blade is one such hero.
Blade is a mix between a human and a vampire, which means he has all the strengths of being a vampire without any of the weaknesses. This includes supernatural strength and speed. But even without this, he’s a deadly fighter who has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal. There are few better than Blade when it comes to wielding swords or guns, sometimes even both at the same time.
The roster is currently lacking on the supernatural side, so Blade would be the perfect choice to help represent that world.
3. Shang-Chi
How can you have a Marvel fighting game without the addition of one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in all of the Marvel Universe? Shang-Chi is such an expert in martial arts that he can go toe-to-toe with just about anybody. Even if he loses, he’ll put up a fight and earn the respect of his opponents. The most impressive fact is that he is one of the best fighters ever with just his hands.
Sure, he will occasionally use weapons, but his primary arsenal is his fists. I wouldn’t be mad if they gave him some form of weapon in Marvel Tokon, though. Playing as Shang-Chi while he wields the Ten Rings would be incredible.
If added to the roster, he could be one of the best characters in Marvel Tokon.
4. Reptil
Marvel Tokon already has a left-field pick in the game with Danger. But I think there’s room for multiple lesser-known characters. A character that is highly unlikely to be in the game but would be an amazing surprise is Reptil. He’s a hero who can turn into a dinosaur at whim. He doesn’t have to go full dinosaur all the time; he can also turn just part of his body into a dinosaur’s.
The best fighting game characters are the ones that are the most unique, and I find it really hard to think of something more unique than a guy who can turn into a dinosaur. Think of all the possibilities. He can turn his mouth into that of a T. rex or turn his head into that of a Triceratops. He could gain the ability to fly by becoming a pterodactyl or even grow a tail to hit opponents from far away.
Having iconic characters on the roster like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Hulk are important, but you also need those dark horse picks.
5. Silver Surfer
As much as I love this character, I think he doesn’t have a high chance of making it into the roster. I hope I’m completely wrong because this is one of the coolest comic book characters ever created. Silver Surfer representation in video games is long overdue. The last time I can remember him being a playable character in a big Marvel game was in 2006’s Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance, which is a travesty because his abilities are so unique that you can’t get the same feeling from any other character.
I mean, for crying out loud, the man has a silver surfboard that he can use to traverse the stars. That should be enough justification for him to be added to the game. But think about everything he can do with it and how that can translate into a fighting game character – the possibilities are as exciting as they are endless.
So far, the only cosmic representative is Star-Lord, but it’s almost a guarantee that that will change. When they do add more cosmic characters, I hope Silver Surfer is one of them. Out of all the characters on this list, Silver Surfer is the one I would most like to see added to the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls roster.
